Having a lazy Sunday? Kick back, pour yourself a cuppa and enjoy Team Her.ie’s favourite reads of the week.

Though it’s a tough task, given how many fantastic stories we’ve come across in the past seven days, each of us here at Her.ie have chosen one of our favourite picks from the week, gathered together in one handy collection. Enjoy!

Grace’s Choice: Love, From Future You

Grace says: This week I caught up with a wonderful friend to chat Cassie Delaney about her incredible campaign to promote positive mental health. Delaney and Aoife Price set up  ‘Love, From Future You’, a fairly unique approach to getting the mental health conversation started. The initiative was simple, it is a collaborative project between absolute strangers, that has the potential to help everyone. Individuals were asked to pen a letter of advice you wished you had received in times of mental health struggles, all letters would remain anonymous and will then be interlaced to create one collaborative letter of support. That beautiful result is finally here.

Cathy’s Choice: Beyoncé No Show is a Pain in the Tooth

Cathy says: I laughed out loud at this story earlier in the week. Cody goes to the dentist and let’s just say, he’s a broken man afterwards. Convinced Beyoncé is coming to meet him, he’s absolutely devastated when she doesn’t turn up. A must watch!

Michelle’s Choice: Love Me Tinder, Love Me True

Michelle says: I laughed until I cried after Her.ie reader Louise sent on a series of screengrabs from a conversation she had with a man she met on Tinder. The pair went for a date earlier this week but Louise wasn’t feeling the spark. When she sent the gentleman in question a message to politely say so, he refused to take the rejection lying down. What followed is one of the funniest exchanges I’ve seen in ages. This, ladies, is what we refer to as a stage five clinger.

Mary’s Choice: You’ll Never Walk Alone

Mary says: As a big Liverpool fan, the story that stole my heart this week was about 103-year-old Betty Musker. The Liverpool-mad football fan is turning 104 in a couple of weeks and was sad that she wouldn’t get any birthday cards as all her friends have died (sob!). Liverpool’s finest put their minds down to the project, with amazing results! Betty – you’ll certainly never walk alone.

Rebecca’s Choice: Travelling Soldier

Rebecca says: When I saw this story, as a fan of films such as The Notebook and Dear John, I grinned like a kid in a chocolate factory. I just thought it was lovely that the first thing this guy wanted to do when he returned home after spending six months in Syria was to pop the question to his other half. Just goes to show that romance is still alive and well!

Liz’ Choice: Team Spirit

Liz says: I’m the least sporty person you will ever talk to. I never played for a team and I was never going to be the star player. This story though just melted my heart.

JP Gibson is 5-years old and he just made the Utah Jazz basketball team, even if it was on a one-day contract.

I won’t ruin it for you, but you NEED to watch this video. Even if it’s just to see the most adorable slam dunk of all time.

Marie’s Choice: Don’t You Know Who I Am

Marie says: We love a bit of Beyoncé and Jay-Z in the Her.ie office but this may be my favourite story yet. Jay-Z pulls some serious attitude when confronted by a tourist who doesn’t know who he is and luckily, the entire exchange is caught on camera. Brilliant!
