The Keelings Farm Fresh Gold Medal Awards took place in the Lyrath Estate in Kilkenny last night. The awards recognise and reward excellence in the Irish hospitality and catering industries.
The award for Ireland’s best five-star hotel was given to Mayo’s Ashford Castle, while Mount Juliet Estate, Kilkenny won the best four-star hotel award. It also won the award for best fine dining and was recognised as the overall supreme winner on the night.
Ireland’s best 3-star hotel was given to Killeen House Hotel in Kerry.
As for the public vote it was Kelly’s Resort Hotel in Rosslare, Wexford that was chosen as the nation’s favourite place to stay. Also in the public vote saw Boqueria, Dublin being awarded as Ireland’s favourite place to eat.
The best newcomer award went to a restaurant in Dublin, Pickle Restaurant.
When it came to wedding venues Ballygarry House in Tralee came out on top. As for the hotel’s with spas, The Europe Hotel, Kerry was named as the best five-star, while the Galgorm Resort & Spa won in the 4-star category.
The Dunloe Hotel in Kerry was named as Ireland’s most family-friendly hotel, while Castle Leslie in Monaghan was awarded the best hotel breakfast.
The Westbury Hotel in Dublin won in the category of best city hotel and Crowne Plaza Ireland won the award for best business hotel.
Castlewood House in Dingle was acknowledged as the best country house & guest house experience.
Anocht in Kilkenny went home with the award of best casual dining experience while Ristorante Rinuccini, Kilkenny won the prize for best European restaurant. David Hurley of Gregans Castle was named chef of the year and John Burke from the Armada Hotel, Clare was recognised as the best front of house team member.
