Have you been following the latest series of Britain and Ireland’s Next Top Model? If you haven’t been, don’t worry. We’re here to fill you in on the latest gossip.
The Irish Daily Mail reports that an Irish model has spoken honestly about her experiences on the show. If you’re currently watching the series on television, then you’ll know that Diona Doherty from county Derry was the latest girl to be sent packing by Elle Macpherson and co.
Rather than flaunting her newfound fame as a result of the show however, Diona has been brutally honest about her experiences on BINTM.
She said that while she enjoyed some of her experiences on the show, for the most part, competing against the other girls has turned her off modelling because it is “too competitive.”
Diona was chosen to take part on the show after she was picked from an audition in Dublin. She beat off stiff competition from thousands of other girls and landed herself a place in the final line-up. However, Diona has said that the show did not meet her expectations.
“I have huge respect for Elle and when she did give us comments, they were constructive, as you would imagine,” Diona said.
“But Elle wasn’t very hands-on. A lot of us were expecting a lot more contact with the judges but it wasn’t like that at all,” she added.
Diona has said that rather than fuelling her ambition to make it in the modelling industry, she would prefer to go in a completely different direction.
“I do love modelling but for me it’s just too competitive, with acting as well. I’d rather be at the bottom of the ladder in one industry instead of two and just concentrate on acting,” she said.
“It’s very hard to make a go of modelling if you’re not 15. You have to be very young when you start to do well,” she added.
Cork girl Lisa Madden and Kelly Forde are still battling on in an attempt to win the competition
