Well this is slightly depressing…
The majority of Irish employees would rather skip the annual office party - and if the boss could just give us a voucher instead, that would be great.
That’s the finding of a recent survey carried out by Pigsback.com, who spoke to 2,238 Irish workers. Fifty-nine per cent of respondents said they’d skip the office knees-up in favour of a gift card or a supermarket voucher.
Employers were similarly Scrooge-like when it came to festive cheer, with less than a third of companies planning a celebration in line with their 2011 party, and a further third planning to skip the party altogether.
Could the office party become a thing of the past?
Following on from findings earlier this week that suggested true love could come from a Christmas kiss by the photocopier, this makes us particularly sad. Where has all the love gone for some festive fun with colleagues?! Particularly when we've admitted to wanting more celebrations in the office when it comes to birthdays.
We might be the exception to the rule but Team Her.ie and the lads at our brother site JOE.ie are certainly planning on partying this festive season… any excuse really.
So if you feel the same, we'll even thow in a voucher - you can win your Christmas party jumper (and a €100 voucher!) here.
Merry Christmas, and Bah Humbug to the Scrooges!
