We all know coming up with a brand name that's going to stick, and hopefully become a household name, isn't a simple thing.
But we definitely could have warned Apple against some of these suggested names for the now-famous iPhone.
It's a little bit hard to think of a world where everybody's going gaga for the Apple Telepod...
According to former Apple advertising lead Ken Segall, who previously revealed that Steve Jobs wanted to call the iMac the "MacMan", the company went through a process of vetting several names before deciding on the "iPhone".
Segall recently held a seminar at the University of Arizona where he revealed five of those possible names (one of which is now very familiar).
TelePod: Segall says Apple this name put a futuristic spin on "telephone" (really?), while tying the device in to the established iPod brand name.
Mobi: We're just thinking of "Mmm LORDY, trouble so hard..."
TriPod: Another example of trying to tweak the iPod name to suit a phone, while trying to indicate that the new device has three functions — phone, mp3 player, Internet access. Great until everyone will assume it has three legs as well...
MicroMac: Because it's a smaller Mac?
iPad: The eventual name for the Apple tablet was actually a possibility for the iPhone. We're guessing this lead to the iPhone moniker...
