According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fox 2000 have had plans for a sequel since 2001 when Bonnie Hunt was signed up as a scriptwriter, but despite multiple rewrites Chris and Robin weren't happy with the storylines.
However, things changed earlier this year when David Berenbaum, who wrote the hilarious Elf, was hired to pen the script.
