It’s Finally Happening! Robin Williams To Star In Mrs. Doubtfire Sequel

BEST news of the week.

Cathy Donohue

“My first day as a woman and I’m getting hot flashes…” and this is just one of the many brilliant quotes from the classic Mrs Doubtfire.

We are just a little bit excited by the fact that Robin Williams has confirmed he will star in a sequel to the much loved film.

Fox 2000 is planning the return of Euphegenia Doubtfire to the big screen, reuniting Williams with director Chris Columbus, who directed Home Alone, Home Alone 2 and two of the Harry Potter films.

The original film told the story of struggling voice actor Daniel Hillard, played by Robin Williams, whose wife (Sally Field) files for a divorce.

In a bid to see his children more, he disguises himself as a Scottish housekeeper and the results are all kinds of brilliant.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fox 2000 have had plans for a sequel since 2001 when Bonnie Hunt was signed up as a scriptwriter, but despite multiple rewrites Chris and Robin weren’t happy with the storylines.

However, things changed earlier this year when David Berenbaum, who wrote the hilarious Elf, was hired to pen the script.

The 1993 film took in $219 million domestically and $222 million internationally.

There aren’t any plot details for the sequel yet but we would put money on the fact that it will break box office records… BRING. IT. ON.
