When someone in your family dies, it’s always comforting to keep some mementos so you can remember them. But how would you feel if your keepsake for a deceased loved one was stolen? A grieving husband is publically pleading for burglars to return an iPod that belonged to his late wife.
The Irish Sun reports that thieves stole the device which held the favourite songs of Susanna Silke, who died a year ago. The burglars also took the money saved by her teen son for a school trip to Galway when they broke into the family home near Tuam in Galway.
Michael Silke is now appealing to anyone who may have bought an iPod Classic at a knock-down price to return it to him.
Michael is well-known in the area and has been running the popular Yummy Crepes stall in Galway city for 20 years. Susanna, who lost her battle with cancer last year, had stored absolutely everything on her iPod and Michael revealed that listening to her favourite tunes comforted him immensley when he lost her.

The stolen iPod was an iPod classic
“I would often put it on in the evenings and it brought back pleasant memories of our 30 years together and that’s irreplaceable,” said Michael.
“Perhaps it was dumped in some ditch or drain and I am appealing to anyone who finds it to give it to gardai as it is of such sentimental value that I would love to get it back,” he added.
Michael revealed that the burglars stuck as he was taking his teenage daughter to school after she missed the bus one morning.
“They took four laptops, two iPods and €400 to €500 in coins and notes that our son was saving for the school trip to China in April,” said Michael.
We really hope that Michael manages to get the iPod back as soon as possible.
