Joe Brolly’s Perfect Match not only highlighted the need for awareness when it comes to organ donation but it also tugged on the heartstrings.
The Opt For Life documentary, which aired on RTÉ last night, told of how the television pundit donated a kidney to a complete stranger, father-of-three Shane Finnegan.
But while the operation itself was a failure in the end, the programme certainly wasn’t. It received a lot of praise on Twitter last night.
Donegal GAA player Mark McHugh took to the social media site to voice his support for the cause: “Joe Brolly is some man for one man! #fairplay #brolly”.
Tomás Quinn echoed these sentiments with: “No matter what you think of Joe Brolly as a football ‘pundit’...his story & what he did for Shane Finnegan is truly amazing #optforlife”.
If you missed it you can catch Perfect Match on the RTÉ Player. Here’s a glimpse of what it’s about...
