Joe Caslin’s latest mural is absolutely captivating

In years to come when people remember the marriage referendum, many will fondly recall the stunning artwork created by Joe Caslin on George’s Street.

The Claddagh Embrace was a poignant vocal point that summarised the feelings and worries of many members of the LGBT community at that time.

We’re big fans of Joe’s work and are delighted to see that he is back with a similarly themed project for Belfast Pride.

Joe announced today on his Facebook page:

“I’ve collaborated with 17 inspiring members of the Belfast LGBTQ community to create a large street art installation and photo series looking at the inclusive LGBTQ family.”

This series follows Our Nations Sons, a collection of portraits by Joe which tackles the subjects of mental health, depression, suicide, and the role of men in Irish society.

We spoke to Joe last year as part of our How The Yes Was Won series.
