Kilkenny Design Launches #WomensDayEveryDay Open Letter Platform

Melissa Carton

A fantastic idea.

Kilkenny Design is calling on everyone in Ireland to celebrate the amazing women in their life, not only during March, but 365 days a year.

As part of the campaign, Kilkenny Design has set up an open letter platform on their website which enables users to re-ignite the art of handwriting and pen a personalised open letter to ‘The woman who made me, me’.

The project kicked off online this Monday and for every open letter downloaded from the site during the month, Kilkenny Design will donate €1 to Safe Ireland – a charity which aims to make Ireland a safer place for women and children.

Speaking about the project Marian O’Gorman, CEO of Kilkenny Design said;

“The past year has been a struggle for us all and people are missing the warmth, strength, and creative spirit of the special women in their lives.

At Kilkenny Design it’s women’s day every day, it has been for over 50 years now. The women of Ireland are our much loved customers and we believe an open letter is one of the most powerful ways to express your feelings towards those you appreciate most.

Letters can be shared on International Women’s Day, Mother’s Day or any regular day in the year.”

Claire Kearney from Safe Ireland commented that the money raised through the project will help to protect many women;

“The Kilkenny Design donation will be used to ensure that Safe Ireland can respond to the emerging and ever-changing needs of domestic violence services throughout the country.

In crisis, victims need appropriate housing, trained court supports and specialist therapeutic responses before they can even begin to recover and start new lives.

The Kilkenny Design donation will help us remain agile and responsive in our work so we can actively reach out to women, as well as support those who make contact.”

The open letter feature will be available on www.kilkennyshop.com for all of 2021, celebrating women and showcasing the strength of female friendship and relationships.
