Yes, it’s April… and yes, I had to wear a scarf to work.
You’d be forgiven for thinking we were back in December this morning, such is the chill in the air.
Temperatures in places around the country plunged below freezing again overnight as the current spell of cold weather continued to hit Ireland.
Not surprisingly, people were talking about just how feckin’ baltic it was outside this morning…

So, what’s the story? How long will this continue for?
Wednesday will be a very cold, but a bright day, with sunny spells. Scattered showers also, especially in the eastern half of the country, but they won’t be as heavy in most areas as on Tuesday. It will not be as windy today, with mostly moderate north to northwest winds. Maximum temperatures will be from 8 to 11 Celsius.
It will be cold tonight but overall a lot of dry weather under broken cloud. Showers, mainly confined to north and northwest coasts. Northwesterly breezes will ease and temperatures will fall to between 0 to + 5 degrees Celsius, with some frost; coldest across southern parts of Munster and Leinster.
Temperatures for the long weekend look set to be very cool with low pressure continuing to move across the country.
But the good news is, we can expect temperatures to take a turn for the better next week… because the weather forecast has never let us down before.
