Lotto bosses have admitted they had their eye off the ball last weekend after the wrong number was called out during the live show.
The mess-up occurred when the balls were being drawn for the Lotto Plus 2 prize at around 8pm on Saturday night, the Irish Sun reports.
The number 9 was mistaken for a 6 because of a misprint. The mistake has cost the National Lottery a massive €54,000.
Nobody had the winning six numbers in either combination but about 18,000 players were affected by the mistake.
The National Lottery apologised yesterday and said it would make sure it would pay those who had at least three numbers, including the 6 or the 9.

Nobody in Ireland had the winning numbers, in either combination.
The organisation said: “We wish to confirm that the winning numbers for the Lotto Plus 2 and Lotto 5-4-3-2-1 Plus 2 draw on Saturday April 6, 2013 were as follows: 3 9 23 39 40 42 BONUS 10. However, there was a number misprint in our Lotto Plus 2 draw on the number 9 ball.
“In addition to paying on the winning numbers above, we will also pay prizes to Lotto Plus 2 players who had a winning combination based on the following numbers: 3 6 23 39 40 42 BONUS 10.
"We apologise for any confusion caused and are advising Lotto Plus 2 players with a winning combination without the number ‘6’ to claim their prize from any National Lottery agent in the normal way.
“Any Lotto Plus 2 players with a winning combination with the number ‘6’ should sign the back of their winning ticket and post it, with their name, address and telephone number, to: Lotto Plus 2, National Lottery, Abbey Street Lower, Dublin 1.”
But it doesn’t end there..
The National Lottery have also admitted to using the misprinted ball eight times since it was introduced in January. The ball has only been drawn once in that time but a spokesperson insisted the number drawn from the balls was a 9 and so there shouldn’t be an issue.
