If you love gin and want to get fit, read on

Katie Mythen-Lynch

Firstly, in case you’re wondering, we did not make this up.

Secondly, it’s finally happened: they’ve invented a thing that combines exercising (ugh) with booze (yay!).

And not just any booze either… GIN! Yes, Secret London Runs have just released a selection of dates for their new Gin Runs in London.

It’s important to note that the idea isn’t to quaff G&Ts at various rest stations as you puff and wheeze your way to the finish line of some kind of alcohol soaked 5k.

Instead, you sign up for a run in your chosen pace (from Beginner to Speedy) and a knowledgeable guide takes your group of 15 gin lovers on a calorie-burning six-mile run past various historical sites, even stopping at a secret gin palace on the way for a closer look.

There’ll also be a selection of fun gin-themed games to play en route to take your mind off the exercise.

Afterwards, everyone enjoys a lovely gin and tonic together and all participants take home a copy of Katie Kirby’s new book Hurrah For Gin as well as a goody bag.

The Gin Runs kick off on April 2, running at various times and dates until April 12. Choose a date and buy a ticket (£24) here.

We’re hoping this takes off in Ireland very soon.
