Customers of phone network Three have been left without service today.

The company, which recently merged with O2, confirmed the service issue via their Twitter account, saying: “Some customers may be experiencing issues with their service. We’re working on getting this fixed ASAP. Sorry for any inconvenience caused.”

The issue affects up to 1.5 million service users across the country, with many taking to social media to vent and express frustration at being unable to send texts or place calls.

The company is the second largest mobile phone operator in Ireland following the O2 merger.
