Have you ever wondered what the cast of Love/Hate is like in real life? No, they’re not as bad as they appear on the telly. In fact, according to the show’s producer, Darren, Nidge, Tommy and Fran are all “very good boys” off screen.
The Irish Independent reports that Suzanne McAuley, the producer of RTE’s gritty gangland drama has revealed that “some of the scripts have already been written” for the new series of the programme, although, again, series four will not see Darren returning from the brink of death (again).
“Darren got bullets in the head at the end of series three – so it’s quite likely he is dead. Very dead,” she said.
With intense plots, great acting and major cliffhangers, it’s unsurprising that the drama absolutely cleaned up at the Irish Film and Television awards last night.
The programme has already made Irish television history, regularly breaking records with the amount of people who tune in to watch it. Last year, the audience figures for Love/Hate peaked at a whopping 1,074,440 and it goes without saying that we’re all dying to see what season four has in store for us.
Will Tommy survive his injuries? Will Nidge stick around? Will someone new be brought in to replace Darren? We have so many questions!
Auditions for the next series are currently on-going but any actor who has already been cast and has received their script has been “sworn to secrecy” over the new storyline.
“My neck is on the line; I’m the chief decision-maker,” said Ms McAuley
The Love/Hate team were celebrating last night after they literally made a ‘killing’ at the IFTAs. The programme scooped six awards, including the coveted Best Actor and Actress gongs.

Actor Tom Vaughan-Lawlor won the award for Best Actor for his portrayal of Nidge
“I feel like one of the luckiest actors in the world to play the part of Nidge. I would like to dedicate this to my wonderful and gorgeous wife Claire. I’m just so delighted,” said Tom Vaughan-Lawlor as he accepted the Best Actor award.
Charlie Murphy, who plays Siobhan in the show, took the Best Actress award.
“I’m shell shocked. I didn’t prepare a speech at all. I just told myself to make sure I didn’t curse,” said Charlie.
Susan Loughnane won the Best Supporting Actress award for her portrayal of drug addict Debbie meanwhile Stuart Carolan, the man behind the show, was awarded the Best Script and Best Director gongs.
“This puts more pressure on us now to make an even better fourth season,” quipped Stuart.
We actually can’t wait for Love/Hate to get back on our telly screens!
