Sustainable shopping: Mother daughter duo set up Ireland’s newest conscious lifestyle store

“We collaborate with grá in mind.”

When it comes to DIY and interiors, these days sustainability is key.

Doing a bit of work to your house? Make sure you get as creative as possible. Buying some new pieces to spruce up your home? Vintage all the way. Desperate to not feel guilty for splashing out on your gaff? Pre-loved is the way forward.

The good people of Ireland are already well on their way to a more sustainable of living (if the abundance of secondhand shops, vintage stores, and pre-loved buys are anything to go by).

We’re always on the hunt for something new, something unique, and something reasonable – and lucky for us, there are now a whole host of platforms, sites, and stores willing to help us do just that.

The newest interiors and lifestyle brand to appear on our radar is MIMI + MARTHA, a mother/daughter run sustainability store that’s got creativity and conscious buying behind it.

Featuring 40 designers and makers, the Irish brand is selling a whole host of products from kitchenware to scented candles, to art and stationary.

All of it sustainable, and all of it totally lovely.

“We are delighted to be launching MIMI+MARTHA into the world, this has been an ambition of ours for the past few years and we felt the timing was right to finally open our doors…so to speak,” said co-founder Mary Keogh.

“During these uncertain times, it is important to be supporting artists and designers who are creating and crafting, we wanted to launch this platform as a means for designers to connect and share their stunning works with the public. We are all in this together after all.”

MIMI + MARTHA offers independent designers from Ireland and beyond the opportunity to sell their crafts and piece alongside other eco-friendly creators.

We’re talking ceramics, we’re talking skincare, we’re even talking artwork and prints – whatever you want to get your gaff, and yourself, looking and feeling amazing.

“From our products to the creators, we collaborate with grá in mind,” said fellow co-founder Martha O’ Brien Keogh.

“To us, this means choosing items made with love, for us to love. These items are made to last, and made with quality materials from local Irish woods to merino wool, from botanicals and beeswax to Irish linens and tweeds.”

Few gorgeous bits never hurt anyone, sure. Especially when they’re eco-friendly.
