National Proposal Day is fast approaching but it’s weirder than it sounds

We're not sure about this one.

We’re not sure about this one.

National Proposal Day has been confirmed for March 20th. Don’t worry, it’s the first we’ve heard of it too. It’s said to rival Valentine’s Day as a way for people to proclaim their love to another person.

But, instead of just being a suggested date to propose to your significant other it’s got a weird twist. The date has been allocated for singletons who want to let someone know about their true feelings. It’s a way to show someone that you are marriage material and are looking to get married to them in the future.

Talk about full-on.

ProposalDay.com says:

“If you’re single and seeking marriage and you know who you want to marry, then here’s your opportunity to shape your future by inviting this person you want as your lifetime mate out somewhere special over the upcoming 2017 Vernal Equinox Proposal Day!”

They also further explain that it’s the perfect time to share your feelings and intent to marry in the future. They add:

“If you do this, then they’ll understand that you believe them to be one of your “true loves” in life and that you consider them marriageable, and if you’ll openly share this with them, then they’ll begin to mentally process the new and very significant information they’ve received from you.

Once this process has started, you will achieve what you seek from the Holiday; you’ll be seriously considered as a potential spouse by the “true love” you hope to marry.”

But, all of this does come with a warning. They advise that you don’t suggest any deadline or ultimatum or try to set a date.

Yes, because that’s the only thing that would scare them off.
