When nine-year-old Jack Davis wrote NASA a letter applying for the planetary protection officer job, the agency sent him back the sweetest response. The fourth-grader contacted NASA saying that he thought he would be right for the job because he had seen all of the space and alien movies, and also because his sister says that he is an alien. He didn't think his age would hinder his job performance at all.

"I have also seen the show Marvel Agents of Shield and I hope to see the movie Men in Black. I am young, so I can learn to think like an alien."

Jack signed his application as "Jack Davis, Guardian of the Galaxy, fourth grade." NASA sent Jack an official letter back because, honestly, how could anyone ignore something so sweet? In the letter, they said:

"Our Planetary Protection Officer position is really cool and is very important work. It's about protecting Earth when we bring back tiny microbe samples from the Moon, asteroids, and Mars. We are always looking for bright future scientists and engineers to help us, so I hope you will study hard and do well in school. We hope to see you here at NASA one of these days!"

Green, the director of NASA's Planetary Science Division, and tweeted out on the agency's official Twitter account. It included a pic of Green with the letter on his desk just to prove that he had actually signed off on it. Although Jack won't get to work for NASA just yet, the team's response was as encouraging and as lovely as it could have possibly been. Fair play to them.
