This ‘nude blogger’ hit back at Instagram for deleting her account

She's trying to "normalise nudity."

Jessa O’Brien is a blogger who runs an Instagram account dedicated to body positivity.

She also does it completely naked.

The Nude Blogger, as Jessa has become known as online, aims to celebrate the naked form without judgment or shame.

She does this through posts of her nude body on the beach, her nude body in the forest, and her nude body chilling out on a swing.

The posts aren’t explicit at all. Instead, they are tastefully shot and beautifully posed. Every post gets at least a few hundred likes.

The Nude Blogger is pretty popular.

However, at the start of this month, The Nude Blogger found that her Instagram account had been deactivated.

She claimed that this happened to her without warning, so she decided to set up another account to post her nude photos.

She also shared a naked photo specifically aimed at the social media app.

In it, she condemned their decision to remove her account, saying “fuck you” to their double standards.

In the post’s caption, The Nude Blogger wrote:

“F*ck you @instagram
And your double standards
And your blurred guidelines
And your lack of transparency
And your unaccountability
And your censorship
And your inconsistent policing
And your dictatorship
F*ck you @instagram
Just so you know, there is a real person behind this account.
My name is Jessa.

Jessa said that she was more willing to use other platforms to share her message, but that the “principal” of Instagram shutting her down was still an issue.

Following Instagram’s decision, The Nude Blogger was interviewed by multiple media outlets and followed (on her replacement account) by thousands more people.

Her original account had already gained over 47,000 followers by the same it was deactivated.

Still not content with Instagram’s actions, Jessa took to her personal blog to get a few things off her chest.

‘Nudity is a norm in my blog… albeit non-pornographic and non-sexual. It is not explicit in the slightest!” she said.

“It is a shame that nudity is still considered offensive, especially for the reasons I talk about.

I agree, we need to stop sexualising the human body… and that is exactly what my photos and messages are aimed at doing! Most of my photos are of me out in nature in my natural form.

They are not supposed to be sexually suggestive, and I have stated this throughout my blog.”

And then, just yesterday, The Nude Blogger was reactivated. Naturally, Jessa was only delighted.

In her post, she thanked the app for allowing her to “normalise nudity” and continue to promote body positivity.

“This reactivation symbolises a stand for body-positivity and a step in the right direction toward helping to normalise nudity.

This reactivation signifies a much-needed move toward removing the stigma around non-sexual nudity.

I am committed to continuing in my efforts to help normalise nudity and promote body-positivity, and I can only hope that Instagram will act as an ally and not an opponent in my mission.

I know many other body-positive accounts have fallen victim to disheartening double standards, and I can only hope that Instagram will set forth in exercising the same discernment they seem to have with mine.”
