We’re not sure if this disturbing or meant to be weirdly complimentary, but according to some new research today men are more likely to marry women that have a physical resemblance to their mothers. Eh… yeah…
Researchers in Finland decided to compare the pictures of married men’s significant others with pictures of their mother and found that in most cases there was a strong resemblance between the man’s mother and his wife.
This caused researchers to conclude that when it comes to looking for a life partner, most men prefer a woman who reminds them of their mother.
We’ll admit that we’re a little creeped out by this research. It’s all well and good if your man’s mother is a total MILF and looks amazing for her age and also happens to be one of the soundest people ever, but what if you’re not exactly a fan of his mother – what on earth does that say about his attraction to you then?

Unsurprisingly the research findings have opened up a lot of debate on the subject of male attraction and some relationship experts are suggesting that the resemblance between a man’s mother and his romantic partner could be down to the fact that men switch gears in terms of their relationship when it comes to settling down.
When men aren’t ready to settle down, they’ll happily date anyone but when they’re ready to start ‘getting serious’ they subconsciously look for women who remind them of the woman who took care of them in the early stages of their life. Relationships become more about nurturing than raw sex appeal.
