Planning a few home updates in the new year?

Then you might care to know that Pantone has now announced its 2019 colour of the year – and it’s pretty fab.

Next year, according to the colour- and trend experts, coral – or, as they call it, Living Coral, will be the colour that will dominate all creative realms, such as fashion, design and interiors.

At the beginning of the year, Pantone said that there are two main colour palettes that will take up our homes and businesses in the New year… however they have seemed to have stepped away from them.

The first palette was called ‘Cravings’ and had some glorious “spicy reds, sweet flamingo orange and rich purples.”

While the second palette was called ‘Classico’ and had much more neutral tones, with earthy blues and greys.

But with coral being the colour of the year, and not being in either category, we’re not sure what prompted it to the top spot.

Pantone said of its choice:

“Vibrant, yet mellow PANTONE 16-1546 Living Coral embraces us with warmth and nourishment to provide comfort and buoyancy in our continually shifting environment.

“In reaction to the onslaught of digital technology and social media increasingly embedding into daily life, we are seeking authentic and immersive experiences that enable connection and intimacy. Sociable and spirited, the engaging nature of PANTONE 16-1546 Living Coral welcomes and encourages lighthearted activity. Symbolizing our innate need for optimism and joyful pursuits, PANTONE 16-1546 Living Coral embodies our desire for playful expression.

“Representing the fusion of modern life, PANTONE Living Coral is a nurturing color that appears in our natural surroundings and at the same time, displays a lively presence within social media.”
