It all started last week when Melania and husband Donald took to a press conference to talk about Puerto Rico.
All was going as you would expect a Trump press conference to go... until some people noticed that Melania was wearing some pretty big sunglasses, nodding solemnly, and not really looking like herself.
Twitter user Joe Vargas was the first to kick things off.
"This is not Melania. To think they would go this far & try & make us think it's her on TV is mind blowing. Makes me wonder what else is a lie."

He then followed this up with a photo comparison.
Clearly a joke, right? A bit of fun? Some content for the hashtag numbers? Probably, but also maybe not. After Joe's tweet went and got picked up by the likes of TMZ and other major media organisations, he apparently started getting "death threats" for "exposing" Melania.Let me save you some time from looking it up. It's not her. pic.twitter.com/IJjHEzWs8p

But Joe did not back down. He followed that tweet up with: "That clip was not Melania Trump and I'm serious. If she showed up later, cool. She was prob late. Don't be dumb." People, however, did not heed Joe's advice. They took to Twitter to do some clever enough jokes about the whole debacle. https://twitter.com/kashanacauley/status/920740167048146945 https://twitter.com/BeardedGenius/status/920927577946165248 https://twitter.com/sbstryker/status/920722435283992576 Despite the fact that Melania literally appeared that same day with no sunglasses on and all smiley, people remain convinced that the Melania who stood by Trump during his press conference was not the same Melania. Maybe she was just having a bad morning, lads.TMZ just picked up the story and now I'm getting death threats for exposing the fake Melania Trump. Sipping on my @CloudN9neSyrup to relax.

Or maybe this is the conspiracy of the century.
