People Are Really P*ssed Off With This Article About Things Men Find Unattractive

Sure look, let’s call a spade a spade, we do love the listicles.

And while we’re prone to share a couple, we like to think that the ones we do write are funny and moderately informative. Ultimately, they’re based on fact or witty anecdotal opinion.

Sadly one writer’s attempt to write a fun article has been received as a misogynistic manifesto on how to best please men.

The article entitled 10 Things Men Find Unattractive has been refuted by The Huffington Post and has been ranted about online.

The piece is quite long but it basically tells women how to groom themselves to be more attractive to men. It includes advice like:

On Makeup

Keep it natural. Men don't want to go in for a kiss and come out looking like they just joined the circus. Remember, foundation is supposed to be invisible to others and blend in with your skin. Stay away from glittery or shimmering eye makeup and NEVER use clumpy mascara. Minimal makeup is sexier.

On Hair

While a fancy hairstyle may be ok for a glamorous night out, men prefer natural-looking hair. It's more attractive to look at and feels nicer to touch when it's free of gels or sticky products.

On Shaving

For the love of all that's smooth -- please shave. Men associate hair with testosterone and testicles so they don't want to see it on a woman.

On Dental Hygiene

Let's face it ladies -- men look at our mouths. Bad breath and discoloured teeth are unattractive to the opposite sex. Cut down on the coffee or red wine.

On Alcohol

Sure, a man likes to hang with a woman who knows how to have a good time but know when enough is enough. No man wants to see a woman puking in the bar bathroom or falling down on the dance floor.

On Life in General

Men like happy, positive women.

And

Men like ladies with a little class so dropping the f-bomb in every sentence is a turn-off and does not show how sophisticated you really are.

Or

If they leave the toilet seat up, quietly put it down. If they don't shave for a couple of days, deal with it.

Expecting him to change to meet your needs is also very unattractive. They want to be loved for who they are.

It was written by Cherri Parry, whose latest work on Millenial Lifestyle includes “The Most Common Reason Men Get Dumped” and “The 10 Best Things About Being Single” (I shit you not).

So it’s a little bit, you know, oppressive and one-sided. Twitter users have noted this with both men and women questioning the ethics of the article.

The piece seems to have been pushed out by the blogging site again but was first shared in 2015. We're kinda just like this right now.
