Study finds that people with this characteristic have more sex

Would you agree? (No pun intended).

Cathy Donohue

Do you have this characteristic?

Now before we go any further, let us be clear, this is one study and it does not dictate people’s sex lives so take it with a pinch of salt.

Anyway, as we know, there’s a lot of research on what makes good/bad sex and the reality is there are a number of different factors.

A study published in the Journal of Research in Psychology found that people with certain personality traits were having more frequent (and better) sex.

Entitled “who is having more and better sex”, the details relate specifically to newlyweds, but sex is sex so we’re interested nonetheless.

The researchers found that people who were agreeable and open tended to have more sex while people who suffer from anxiety and worry about what other people think have less sex.

To come to this conclusion, researchers asked 278 newlywed couples to keep a diary of their sex lives (romantic or what).

Each participant, 556 in total, also kept a record of their daily personal thoughts which were analysed by researchers under the Big 5 personality test.

This test measures five traits: conscientiousness, openness to experience, neuroticism, extraversion and agreeability.

Although the five traits were included, only agreeability and neuroticism had any impact on the results.
