River Schomaker's mum reported him missing from his home in Portland, Oregon on Saturday morning.
A huge search and rescue operation was launched for the two-year-old.
He was found in a blackberry bush a few streets away from his house five hours later by search and rescue dogs.
He was wearing only his pyjamas.
Luckily, he was not badly injured but was brought to hospital for treatment for scratches and exposure to the cold.
Katu news reports that his mum said he wasn't in his bed when she woke up in the morning. Police believe the little boy probably escaped through an unlocked door.
Detectives have now placed the little boy in protective custody “out of concern for the child's welfare and safety at home.”
