Go on the lads.
If you have a baby you’ve probably given it a name.
Or maybe you haven’t are simply waiting for your infant to grow older and older until inspiration strikes.
Either way, babies tend to be named soon after they’re born and every year, these names are compiled onto a list to give us all a look at what the most popular baby names in the country are.
This week, Northern Ireland published their list and there are a few surprises on there.
(Just kidding, there isn’t, a lot of them are fairly generic, tbh.)
Here are the top 10 girls names of 2017:
- Emily
- Grace
- Olivia
- Isla
- Anna
- Sophie
- Ella
- Amelia
- Charlotte
- Sophia
And here are the top 10 boys names of 2017:
- James
- Jack
- Noah
- Charlie
- Jacob
- Harry
- Thomas
- Daniel
- Oliver
- Logan
The statistics were published yesterday by the UK government and compared the most popular baby names with those registered in the country in previous years.
James had continued to hold the top spot for baby boys, while Emily has now made it five consecutive years on top for baby girls.
Logan, Isla and Charlotte joined the top 10 for the first time ever last year.
