Joan Lyons decided to shave her head, in front of her family and friends, on her wedding day. Her reason for doing so was to show support to her new husband who was terminally ill.
According to TheWayWeMet, Joan and Craig had known each other since they were 14 years of age, but Craig was too shy to do anything about it when he was a teenager. It took him 30 years to pluck up the courage to ask her out and last year they became husband and wife.
Shortly after Craig proposed, he was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer and was given 9 to 12 months to live. The couple decided to move forward their wedding and make it into a fundraising event.
At the reception, Joan decided to shave her head to show solidarity with Craig. Her hair was donated to a charity that makes wigs for sick children, Little Princess Trust.
Craig died shortly before Christmas last year.
