The question that is commonly asked on Halloween night is trick or treat but really there’s no debate, we always go for the treat!
Speaking of which, here is a simple but delicious recipe for some spooky Meringue Mummies, courtesy of Siúcra.
You might make them for a party or for any trick-or-treaters who might call… but we’d say you’ll probably have them eaten before then!
(Makes 4)
Ingredients:
- 4 pears or apples
- 240 g Siúcra/McKinney’s Icing Sugar
- 1 egg white
- 2 ml vinegar
Method:
1. Using an electric whisk, beat all the ingredients into a smooth mixture.
2. Put the icing into a piping bag and cut off the tip.
3. Cover the fruit with the icing.
4. Place on a wire rack until set.
