Entrepreneur Matt Gilligan believes Facebook could be the cause of his phone's battery life and took to Medium to explain his reasons for the claim.

He found that in a week, the app was the biggest offender when it came to using up battery life and it accounted for 15% loss of battery overall.
Matt's problem was with an iPhone but it seems the Facebook app can spell trouble for Android users too.
Russell Holly of Android Central deleted said app to see if it would improve his phone's performance and it worked a treat.
A spokesperson for the social media company said that at present, the company is looking to see what might be causing the Android Facebook app to slow down phones.
"We have heard reports of a few people encountering speed issues coming from our Android application. We are investigating this and will update you as often as possible. We are focused on keeping on enhancing these issues".While this relates to the speed of the device rather than the battery, we'll take whatever good news we get!
