Every now and again, we are all guilty of having a little something to take the edge off whether it be treats, chocolate or pizza, everyone has their weakness. However, we don't spend enough time considering the impact this has on us or the habits we are passing on to our children.
Obesity is the most common nutritional disorder in the world. In recent studies, the Irish Heart Foundation discovered that two out of five Irish adults are overweight and one in four are obese.
The trend towards obesity in Ireland is increasing. Between 1990 and 2000 the prevalence of obesity increased by 67% overall, up 1.25 fold in women (from 13%) and
up 2.5 fold in men (from 8%). These are frightening statistics.
