RTÉ Address the Criticism Over Ray D’Arcy’s Interview With Dean Strang

Twitter was outraged.

Making a Murderer attorney Atticus Finch Dean Strang appeared on The Ray D’Arcy Show on Saturday Night.

Given the nation’s obsession with Making a Murder, it’s no surprise that over 412,000 tuned in to watch the show. Viewers however quickly turned to Twitter to complain about D’Arcy’s interview skills when it became blatantly apparent that the host had very little knowledge of the show and the Steven Avery case.

D’Arcy asked the attorney several times if he’d felt Steven was guilty, something, of course, he addresses multiple times in the show.

According to The Herald, RTÉ footed the guests bill, paying for his flights and accommodation. Now RTÉ has released a statement addressing the complaints of viewers.

“Obviously, it is always a challenge to condense a 10-hour documentary series into a much shorter interview and, at all times, Ray was cognisant of the need to help Dean explain the case to those viewers who may not have been aware of the story behind Making a Murder” a spokesperson said.

Still seems a bit of a wasted opportunity to us.
