Simon Cowell Flies Back to UK to Revamp X Factor

After the show received heavy criticism at the weekend, Simon Cowell is jetting back to the UK to give the somewhat struggling X Factor a bit of a revamp.

It has been said that the 52 year old music mogul will personally oversee the editing of this weekend’s episode after complaints that the programme involved too many stories and not enough actual singing.

It's not surprising really. Already we've seen an incredibly talented guy from a broken home, a girl who wrote a song about losing someone she loved deeply and a shop assistant who has the voice to make a better life for himself.

But does their background story really matter when they have such great talent? And shouldn't there be more than eight minutes of this singing talent on show during an hour-long programme, as was the case in last week's episode?

 

James Arthur's was just one of the many stories viewers have heard so far.

A source told the Daily Mirror: ‘Simon is sitting through the rough edits and changing bits and pieces where he feels they need it. It’s the first time this year he will be really hands-on.

‘Some fans feel there has been too much reality and stuff off the stage so don’t be surprised if there is more singing this week after Cowell has finished his mini makeover.’

Simon, who has been spending the majority of his time in America with the US version of the show, flew back especially in the hope of reviving the ratings.

This year’s series of the X Factor has suffered greatly in terms of viewers with the first episode attracting three million less than last year.

Over the years the show has undergone umpteen changes, including new judges and surprise twists, in the hope of maintaining public interest. Perhaps it has finally come to the end of the road (cue the sad music)…
