Gig-lovers missed out on the Slane Castle concert this year, but have been promised a double extravaganza next summer.
Slane Castle will not hold one summer gig next year, it will host TWO, owner of the site Lord Henry Mount Charles confirmed.
The rock lord told the Irish Daily Mirror he regrets not being able to stage a show this summer but promised fans he intends to make up for it with the double spectacular in 2013.
“I'm planning something very special, there will be two big shows, one in June and one in August. I'm looking, I'm planning and I'm probing but it's at an early stage yet. All I can say at this stage is it will be very special.”
The likes of legends Rolling Stones, AC/DC, Bruce Springsteen, Nowl Gallagher's High Flying Birds as well as U2 could be signed up to headline the event.
In April, Lord Henry announced there would be no concert this year, disappointing thousands of fans. He said he was “not comfortable” with the act and decided not to go ahead with the gig.
“Slane is a big part of the summer for many fans and they will not be disappointed next year. I can't say anything about acts on the stage, all I can say is there will be two great, great shows.”
Traditionally, the Slane Castle concert is held towards the end of August. Each show next year would have to be capable of selling out the 80,000-ticket venue.
The first Slane concert was held in 2001 when Thin Lizzy headlined the bill. Over the years, the Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Queen and David Bowie have all headlined concerts at the venue.
