Snow Day On The Cards?! Here’s The Forecast For The Week

Snow has been falling in many parts of the country.

The first snow of 2016 has fallen, and looks like there is more to come.

Parts of the country experienced snowfall over the weekend, with the Wicklow mountains being most effected, and Met Eireann predicts there is more to come this week as temperatures continue to plunge.

Other parts of Leinster including areas in Dublin, Carlow, Kildare, Wicklow and Wexford also saw snowfall, although none that stuck.

Met Eireann has said that low temperatures will last throughout the week, with frost, ice and potentially more snowfall.

Forecasters said:

“Frost and ice will clear soon after dawn on Monday morning, as cloud increases in many places and northwest to north winds increase moderate to fresh generally.

“Showers in the north and west will become more widespread as the day goes on, some turning wintry at times on higher ground.

“Near western and northern coasts, northwest winds will increase strong and gusty later. Another cold day; highest temperatures 3 to 8 degrees Celsius.”

Much the same for Tuesday and the rest of the week.

They continue:

“The weather will stay cold for the rest of the week, with frosty nights and occasional wintry showers.”

Motorists are warned of icy patches following frosty nights, and to take severe caution on roads.
