Soap Hottie To Leave Albert Square At Christmas

David Witts is the latest in a (very) long line of cast members to leave EastEnders. The 22-year-old, who plays Joey Branning, is currently filming his exit which will be aired at Christmas according to reports. David only joined the cast last summer. A spokesperson confirmed the news to the Daily Star Sunday: “We can confirm that David is leaving EastEnders later this year and we wish him all the best for the future.” David’s departure was always in the pipeline according to a show insider who explained: “He always said he didn’t want to stay for long, but was persuaded to extend his original contract a couple of times.” His character Joey hooked up with his cousin Lauren (Jacqueline Jossa). They added: “Following the departure of his onscreen sister Alice (Jasmyn Banks) he felt the time would be right to move on.” His final storyline is said to involve Michael Moon (Steve John Shepherd who is also leaving) and Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks).
