Michelle Keegan is leaving Coronation Street to pursue a role in Downton Abbey according to reports this morning.
The actress, who plays Tina McIntyre in the popular soap, is said to be leaving next year.
Michelle has played the part of Tina for six years.
She had wanted to go when her contract expires in November but has decided to stay on until May.
A friend close to the 25-year-old told The Sun that her decision has nothing to do with new beau Mark Wright.
“This is totally Michelle’s decision and what is best for her career. It has nothing to do with wanting to spend more time with Mark,” they explained.
