Over the last number of months, we’ve learned a thing or two about the wide range of contraceptives that are available on the market today.

Now, we are going to continue our focus on health by studying a wide range of topics relating to sex and sexual health.

Last week, we focused on everything you need to know about your vagina, while this week, we’re answering some embarrassing sex questions.

Is it normal not to orgasm?

Don’t worry ladies, you are not alone in this. According to recent research, a whopping 71 per cent of woman have either never had an orgasm or only do sometimes.

For many women, more stimulation is required and that is why foreplay is so important. Read more tips here.

What about cold sores?

Cold sores do not carry the same stigma as genital herpes: the herpes simplex virus 1 usually affects above the waist, while the herpes simplex virus 2 usually affects below the waist (through sexual contact).

And the answer is yes: It can be passed on through oral sex.

Again, don’t worry. It’s perfectly normal for people to pass gas during sex and while you might be embarrassed, don’t stress and just laugh it off. When you climax, the muscles, including the sphincter, relax which can often be the cause.

What happens after pregnancy?

There will be changes to your vagina after giving birth and it’s normal for it to stretch during delivery. Give yourself time to recover properly – about six to eight weeks at least – and do Kegel exercises regularly.

I’m really worried about STIs

If you have had unprotected sex at any stage, it is important to get yourself checked out for sexually transmitted infections. Many common STDs do not necessarily have obvious symptoms and can often go undetected.

Why do I always need the toilet after sex?

Does regular exercise lead to better sex?

While regular exercise helps to boost confidence and body image, it also increases energy, stamina and flexibility. A key exercise for the bedroom is the Kegel squeeze or pelvic floor muscle –  basically strength training for your vagina.
