We’ve been waiting weeks to see him to take the dance floor as we’re sure you have too, but now we find out that we won’t be able to lift up the telephone and vote for Nicky Byrne on Strictly Come Dancing!
The former Westlife star will be showing off his moves in tonight’s first live episode of this year’s show but his home supporters unfortunately won’t have a say as to how long he remains in the competition.
Irish viewers will however be able to interact with the programme through Facebook and Twitter but won’t have an actual vote as that is restricted to Britain.

A BBC spokesperson explained the situation: “Voting is only open to residents of the UK, Channel Islands and Isle of Man, where the BBC licence fee is payable.”
They also told the Irish Daily Star: “We hope those not eligible to vote during the series continue to enjoy the show.”
Well we certainly will as we cheer on Nicky from our sofas who is also appearing on Alan Carr’s Chatty Man on Channel 4 tonight.
Guess that’s our plans sorted for this evening!
