A graduate student is suing her university and professor after receiving a grade which she claims has cost her millions of dollars
Megan Thode is alleging that the C-plus grade which she received in one of her classes prevented her from getting her desired degree and becoming a licensed therapist.
She is also saying that this has cost her $1.3 million in lost earnings and that she wants damages as well as a grade change.
The case has arisen over a grade Thode received.
Both her professor and Lehigh University in Bethlehem, where she attended, said that the case is without merit although Northampton County Judge Emil Giordano declined to dismiss it
According to The Easton Express-Time Thode’s instructor Amanda Eckhardt has also said that she stands by the grade.
Thode’s lawyer is arguing that his client, who got a Masters degree in human development and wasn’t allowed to advance with her studies as a professional therapist due to the grade, was targeted because she is an advocate for gay marriage.
Eckhardt has testified that her personal views do not come into the matter and that Thode had outbursts during class, didn’t participate accordingly and failed to acknowledge a warning letter.
Testimony for the case continues after which the judge will deliver his judgement on the nonjury trial.
