Take The Leap! Would You Go Cliff-Diving?

Remember when you were younger and you insisted to your parents you should be allowed to do something because your friends were doing it... and you'd be asked 'If there were jumping off a cliff would you do that too?' Well, chances are you're big enough and bold enough now to make your own decisions, so do you and some friends facing diving off a cliff? Don't worry if the thought strikes fear into your heart, just watching can be an adrenaline-filled experience to! Red Bull Cliff Divers, Blake Aldridge and Gary Hunt launched the return of the World Series coming to Ireland on 28th and 29th June on Inis Mór on Friday. Both performed a spectacular 20-metre dive from the crow’s nest on the Jeanie Johnston (on Dublin’s Custom House Quay) straight into the Liffey. Ireland will stage the third stop of the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series 2014 at the Serpent’s Lair on Inis Mór this summer.  The world’s elite cliff divers will return to Ireland for the second time to the rugged west coast of Ireland for a dramatic competition over two days at the end of June. The divers defy gravity, perform tricks of breathtaking complexity and reach speeds of more than 85kph in less than three seconds. On June 28th and 29th, ten of the world’s best cliff divers and four wildcards will come together on Ireland’s west coast, at the Serpent’s Lair on Inis Mór for the third stop of the 2014 World Series. Launching from a 27-metre platform, they will dive straight into the legendary blowhole known as ‘Poll na Peist’ (the Serpent’s Lair) and fight for the prestigious title of the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series Champion. With tricks as aesthetic as ever and as difficult as never before, the judges’ and the spectators’ eyes will turn towards reigning champion Artem Silchenko and the divers coveting his World Series title.
