This teenager sent her heartbroken mum a letter from beyond the grave

Amanda Cassidy

Macy was just 16 when she died in a car accident.

Her mum Cindy was struggling with deep grief for her daughter when she came across a letter Macy had written to her as part of a birthday gift some time before. The letters were labelled with instructions like “Open me when you feel lonely” and “Open when you miss me”.

The letter inside was more poignant than Cindy could have ever realised:

“Hey mommy, I’m sorry that you’re missing me. I hope wherever you are or whatever you’re doing you’re okay. I’m probably missing you too. I honestly don’t like being away from the house for too long.

I will always and forever love you, mommy. Thank you for everything you’ve done for me.”

There was also a note from Macy’s boyfriend at the time – he also died in the crash:

“You’re the best thing that ever happened to me. I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you. I love you immensely.”

Cindy said she could never have imagined her own daughter comforting her after this awful tragedy – she says it has given her a measure of comfort that nothing else could.
