Is it wrong that we sort of felt majorly hard done by after we read this story? How come this never, EVER happened when we were in school?!
Digital Spy reports that a school in Washington decided to close today simply because it was such a nice day outside. Yes, a school closed due to “great weather.”
Apparently the Bellingham Christian School teased earlier in the week that “Sun Day” might come sooner than expected this week and everyone might get a day off.
Last night the school confirmed that they weren’t going to open simply because the weather was too nice for students to be cooped up indoors.

If the weather is nice on Tuesday can we extend the long weekend?
Principal Bob Sampson said that he wanted to do something nice for the pupils at the school and recreate the excitement children feel when they get an unexpected “snow day” from school.
“In a world that’s got a lot of hard things going, it’s fun to create a moment of joy,” said Mr Sampson.
“Kids just love the anticipation of sitting around to see if school is cancelled when it snows. We haven’t had any snow days [this academic year], so I thought, ‘How fun would it be to create that anticipation for kids when it’s nice out?’” he added.
Mr Sampson said that he checked with parents first before he made the decision to close the school, just to ensure that they wouldn’t be inconvenienced.
We think this is a lovely idea for the kids, although seriously: how come this never happened when we were in school?! Can we have a “great weather” day off work?
