There are certain foods and drinks that should be avoided at all costs including the below items. What to avoid: Fried/fatty foods These will play havoc with your digestion, often resulting in heartburn before and during your flight. Seeing as there are fast-food outlets located at practically every airport, it's easy to succumb to this temptation but please for heaven sake, think of your tummy. It will thank you. If your flight is an early one, a full Irish is a very attractive option but if your stomach plays up when travelling, avoid for your own sake."What you consume before you take off is as vital as what you eat during the flight, especially when it comes to long-haul flights as it could help to reduce the jet lag.
"If you don't pay attention to what you eat it might cause dehydration, digestion issues, feeling bloated, fatigued and stress levels could increase".
Fizzy carbonated beverages
Not only will these drinks bloat you, you're also at risk of becoming dehydrated.
Cabin pressure can suck moisture from your skin and the air around you, so drinking water to keep hydrated is essential.
Some of these beverages contain caffeine which is detrimental for some shut-eye, not ideal if you're in the mood for a mid-flight nap.
Dairy
If you've ever noticed your stomach cramping after a latte, you're probably aware of a sensitivity to dairy.
Having experienced it myself, these cramps are not to be messed with and as a result, I've cut down on my daily dairy intake.
Curry/spicy dishes
Again, spicy foods can cause indigestion and leave you feeling a little under the weather.
No one wants to be up and down to the toilet constantly and although it might be boring, it's better than raging heartburn for the duration of the flight.
What to eat:
In case you're wondering what you should eat, opt for fruit, nuts, lean proteins and wholegrain carbohydrates.
For drinks, water (no major surprise there) and herbal teas, particularly peppermint to aid digestion, are your best bet.
