We all know that running a family home adds up. Every single day, more and more expenses sneak in and drain away at our budget.
Whether it’s forking out for new school books, spending money on daily essentials or unexpected bills, sometimes it can be hard to save anything. We understand. But what if there was a way that you could still enjoy family life and save those all-important pennies?
For the next few weeks we’ll be giving some simple tips on how you can get the best bang for your buck when it comes to running a family home.

Keep kids entertained by visiting the local library:

Why not take advantage of your local library?
It can be hard entertaining children, especially if you’re living on a pretty strict budget (which, let’s face it, most of us are right now).
We all know that children are full of energy and tend to get bored easily, so it’s important to give them things to do. It’s important to keep their brains active, their bodies active and to encourage them to use the skills they’re learning at school. So, once a week why not take advantage of your local library?
Libraries are free to use and they offer a world of things to do for yourself and your children.
If your children are into reading, they’ll love getting out of the house and picking up some new books every single week. And hey, you may find yourself reading more as a result!
Likewise, even if your children aren’t into reading, there are books in your local library to suit everyone. Maybe they’re not into reading but they love art? You could show them some of the fantastic art books in the reference centre. Or maybe they’re more interested in the world around them? You could let them have a browse in the travel section.
Libraries are also great places to avail of fun workshops. Whether it’s a creative writing course for your children, a free storytelling session or an origami class for yourself, there is absolutely loads on offer.
To find your nearest library, visit the public libraries database by clicking here.
