The super simple trick that will double your annual leave in 2019

Keeley Ryan

We’re so on board.

It may only be March, but we’ve already begun to cast an eye towards our next big vacation.

Which is why we were particularly excited when we found a way to double our annual leave for 2019. Yes, really.

By planning carefully and choosing strategic dates, you can score yourself a nice little break – but you’ll want to get in before everyone else does.

The trick works because Easter is a little late next year, falling towards the end of April, while the May Bank Holiday is early – which means we’re going to be getting two long weekends close together.

Basically, the trick means that if you book your days off around these long weekends, you can just about double your holiday time.

The crucial dates to book off are April 23, 24, 25, 26, 29, and 30; as well as May 1, 2, and 3.

That’s over two weeks thanks to those beautiful bank holidays, using just nine days of annual leave. We have a funny feeling that Easter holiday requests are about to get very popular.

Similarly, if you fancy more of a long, summery break, you can get nine days off around the August Bank Holiday by using just four days of annual leave.

The August Bank Holiday falls on August 5 this year, meaning you could be in for a nice sun-filled break if you book off August 6, 7, 8 and 9.
