This weekend’s forecast suggests we’re experiencing winter in April

Ah lads.

Cathy Donohue

The good news is rain is off this weekend’s weather menu, the bad is that it’s going to be absolutely freezing.

Met Éireann says that temperatures could fall as low as -2 this evening with sleet and possibly snow over mountainous areas in the north and east of the country.

Although Saturday should be dry and clear (YAY), it is supposed to get cold and frosty again on Saturday night with hail and sleet likely.

The first half of Sunday is going to be sunny but the frost returns again on Sunday night as temperatures fall, with lows of -2 expected in midland and southern areas.

Next week is likely to be cold but on the up side, the national forecaster says we should see a fair few sunny spells too.
