The good news is there’s a simple way around this and it should significantly improve things.
Start by selecting the Settings menu, then go to storage, and manage storage.
Chances are your iCloud storage is full as it’s been storing back-ups from previous devices and of course you’ll want to delete these.
Just make sure you don’t delete the back-up that says “this iPhone” as that will get rid of the stuff you want to keep.
Rookie mistake, right there.
Within the menu for each back-up, there’s document and data and you can delete these individually for even more space.
