When was the last time you changed your shower pouf or sponge?

Here's when you should get a new one.

It doesn’t matter whether you use a loofah, a pouf or a sponge in the shower, you should change them regularly.

If you’re anything ike us, you’ve had the same one hanging in there for the past two years but apparently, that won’t cut it.

One dermatologist in the US says that you should change a pouf or loofah every three weeks and a sponge every six weeks.

Of course, if they start to smell or become discoloured before this time, you should change them right away.

According to Apartment Therapy, Dr. Cameron Rokhsar said on Rachael Ray’s morning show that these items can be a breeding ground for organisms which cause infections and rashes.

The alternative is to put them into the washing machine for a good clean. This can apparently make them last for up to three months.

It certainly is something to think about, especially when it comes to your kids’ skin. It was only recently that it was revealed that you shouldn’t use olive or sunflower oil on babies’ skin.
