If you’re looking to book a weekend away in Ireland and have plenty of moola to spend, you should consider going here.

And by here, I mean Ballyfin Demesne.

Yes, the five-star hotel in Laois has been named the second best in the world.

Not number twenty, number sixty but number TWO…we think this is extremely impressive news.

The beautiful spot, which was previously a boarding school, spans six hundred acres and has hosted a few famous faces including JK Rowling, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West.

Ballyfin featured on Travel + Leisure’s top one hundred hotels in the world. It’s a pretty special place because it has been restored to look and feel just like it did in the 1820s.

Located in an elegant setting, it’s a picturesque location to go to relax and switch off for a couple of days although it’s far from cheap.

If you’re prepared to splash the cash, you can book yourself a double room for €960 during peak season.

Sheen Falls Lodge in County Kerry also featured on the list of elite hotels. It came in at number fifty, not too shabby either.

The views from this stunning hotel are incredible and you can see the McGillicuddy Reeks waterfalls from a number of the rooms.

Staying here is expensive but there are a number of offers up for grabs on their website.

We noticed that a lot of Four Seasons resorts made the list of top hotels in the world, the Maldives, Vietnam and Thailand all made the cut.

However, the Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan, Indonesia was ranked the best hotel in the world and from the Instagram snaps below we can see why.
