The thoughtful wedding ring trend that will be BIG for 2017

Cathy Donohue

If you’re getting married soon and want to do something a little different with your wedding rings, this idea is perfect.

Spotted on a Reddit thread, the idea is quickly gathering momentum and ‘fingerprint rings’ will soon be all the rage.

Im High Tech is going viral after he decided to use his wife’s fingerprint as the basis for the design of their wedding bands.

According to Metro, he then sent the rings off to a jewellers who crafted the unique, bespoke design especially for the happy couple.

In the thread, he explained how he went about making this extremely thoughtful gesture happen:

“I actually did, we were engaged already at this point so I had her fingerprint a piece of paper 70 times. I then took a photo of the fingerprint and cleaned up the image. Fingerprints are very messy on a microscopic level so they need tweaking”.

He then went on to say:

“I told her it will be for the ring, so she knew what was happening. I have just not shown it to her yet. I did have her dip her thumb into ink like 70 times to get the perfect fingerprint”.

He also revealed where the inspiration for the ring first came from:

“Several years ago, I saw some guy made a similar design using wood and I thought it would be great to make my wedding band more unique than the stuff you buy at the store”.

You can see the design of the ring here and this is one trend that might start to catch on!
